About me

Hi! I’m Jonathan Muehlstein, a Data Scientist specializing in machine learning and its application to real-world business challenges.

I have nearly a decade of experience in AI and software, spanning both academia and industry. During this time, I have developed and deployed machine learning models across diverse sectors, including automotive, telecommunications, and Internet of Things (IoT). I contributed to the development of a core product at Tactile Mobility—a virtual sensor for vehicles—with the potential to increase driving range for electric vehicles and enable road sensing for autonomous vehicles. At IBM Research, I co-invented a patented ultrasonic ranging protocol. My toolbox includes Python, PyTorch, Pandas, Scikit-learn, Git & GitHub and AWS.

I'm an expert in predictive modeling, tabular data machine learning, and applying research to solve practical problems. My work has been recognized through technical contributions to the IBM COVID-19 Taskforce, and presentations at the IEEE SecIHD academic workshop, as well as in strategic industry collaborative R&D meetings.

I believe in leveraging the power of data and AI to drive innovation and create meaningful impact. I'm committed to delivering high-quality and practical solutions, always striving for authenticity, precision, and efficiency in my work.

In my downtime, I enjoy exercising, developing personal coding projects, creating songs with suno.ai, and exploring new technologies. If you're interested in discussing how AI and machine learning can address your business challenges, or if you'd like to collaborate on innovative projects, please send me a message and connect with me.

I had the great pleasure of working with Jonathan for more than 2 years. He is an exceptional data scientist and algorithms developer, introducing new ideas and improvements and implementing them in a short time span. He has an impressive ability to deep dive quickly into a new subject. Jonathan cares deeply about building a working product, always connecting his research to the requirements, and initiating meetings with the product team if those requirements are not defined or clear enough. In addition, he is a skilled programmer, with the ability to enable his research by creating automations and research infrastructure that everyone ends up using afterward. Jonathan also has an ability to methodically break a complex problem into smaller, digestible blocks and organize them into a clean and palatable work plan. But above all, Jonathan is a people person. In every discussion or meeting, he always presents his arguments cleanly, in a calm and constructive manner. And when there is a disagreement, Jonathan is a mitigator - calmly finding the path of agreement that leads to a better solution.
